Diaper Folding Techniques
Usually, rectangular prefold style diapers do not need to be folded. Occasionally, when a prefold is a little too long or too wide, a simple fold is necessary to deal with the excess fabric and to obtain a more snug fit.
Both of the diaper folding techniques below work equally well. The first technique has a slight advantage for diaper wearers with fecal incontinence. The fold forms a "pocket" in the back that can help contain the contents within the diaper.
Diaper Fold Style One
1. Lay flat or prefold diaper flat. |
2. Fold diaper into thirds. |
3. Spread open back of diaper so that the front is thinner. If diaper is too long, fold up front to fit. Fasten at sides with diaper pins |
Diaper Fold Style Two
1. Lay flat or prefold diaper flat. |
2. Fold in sides at bottom of diaper, to meet at center. |
3. Fold up front one-third. |
4. Lay on diaper. Bring up front through the legs to the waist. Bring sides from back to front and pin. |
